Fastrack sailing Spain, Morocco, Gibraltar and Portugal
Welcome to our new Fastrack sailing programme, as you will learn in due course, sailing is all about trying to make the most of the weather to reach your destination. One thing I have learnt, is that you can never be too specific as to your exact destination and being hell-bent on getting there at any cost, usually results in problems or a very uncomfortable journey.
Our programme aims to provide you with more than just sailing skills, we examine the passage making process and encourage YOU to make the decisions.
During your time with us you can expect to visit some if not all of the places detailed below. Simply put, the more places you visit, the more fun you have, the more interesting planning becomes as there is always somewhere new to explore and more importantly it keeps pushing you out of your comfort zone and sharpens skills.
Sailing from our Spanish base in La Manga you can expect to visit, Torrevieja, Santa Pola, Alicante, Altea, Calpe on the Costa Blanca, the Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Formentera, sail on an inland sea known as the Mar Menor then visit Cartagena, Mazarron and Aguilas on the Costa Calida, for more information on the local are why not pick up a copy of the excellent ABC Guide to sailing the Costas. Heading South to explore the Costa del Sol including Estepona and Sotogrande before reaching Gibraltar and crossing the Straits and landing on another Continent. Visit Ceuta, Marina Smir in Morocco and possibly Melilla depending on our return route. If tidal mile building trips are required we will sail through the Straits of Gibraltar and head to Cadiz Bay and from there sail to the Portuguese Algarve. With the Mediterranean being non-tidal we have to sail West of Gibraltar and into the Atlantic to achieve tidal miles.
With Southern Europes excellent climate there really is no need to spend winters de-icing decks or shivering in damp sleeping bags. Sign up today for the adventure of a lifetime and find out why this part of the World is so popular. |
